The Dark Clan
Background
The Dark clan was not founded in the normal sense of the word. The original clan is a construct of Life clan members who still feel bitterness towards the war that occurred with Light, and wish to deny their democracy and instead instill their own code. Dark clan stands for the reformation of the current justice system and the retribution of wrongdoings permitted in the past, and will not rest until such behavior has been 'brought to light'. The clan is not officially led by Aszerath, instead they have taken it upon themselves to adopt this symbol, as he is the split form of Light.
Aszerath is a construct created by Drefni Naruta; a creature created long before the old world's destruction. He was a demon originally, and was deceived by Naruta, who was exploring a castle in the western mounts in hopes of gaining the trust of the demons who called it their home, and then destroying their station. Aszerath was under the belief that she was simply a mage who had decided to betray her kind, and as told by his leaders, begrudgingly led her around and showed her the fortress and the powers of force they held. Their tour was cut short though, as a nearby volcano erupted and expelled not only large plumes of ash and flows of lava, but a very 'fateful' boulder. Poised to directly hit the touring couple, Aszerath, for reasons unknown to both parties, decided it was in his best interest to push Drefni out of the way and was pushed into a large lava pool by the clast. Drefni, more confused and in shock than benevolently feeling for his action, somehow manged to activate her powers and not only obtained the now stone encased body of the demon, but also resurrected him. Unluckily for Aszerath but quite lucky for everyone else, Drefni's powers had morphed him into a magic construct of near equal strength to her own instead of his original form, preventing him from betraying any who do not deserve it, and leaving the scar that killed him to still visible as a jagged, swirled reminder of what occurred and what he owes.
Although he remained a teacher in magic and mentor in battle to her for some years, before the war occurred, the two parties split ways and have not spoken since. On some nights you can still view a pair of glowing eyes sitting at the base of the white tower, staring solemnly up at the spiraling top, unable to return.
Magic and Elemental Affinity
Dark clan members do not bear any sort of magical ability over the pitch, unlike what their name suggests. All mages who join this clan are simply people who also feel that light is blinding the common world to their own agenda, and as such, retain most of their original ability. Dark clan members may be able to control some shadow power, though this is mostly illusion magic and only used in the rituals to initiate members or to distract larger creatures that may be threatening a member. This magic is mostly limited to two possibilities: summoning a shadowy double of their form or of a creature they have seen, or the ability to wrap themselves in the shadows. Many mages can learn both of these skills, though it is frowned upon as even exposure to the words spoken can corrupt.
Ties to Other Clans
Dark clan members do not hold formal ties to any clans other than life, as they have many members who still distrust Light clan. Even though this clan lacks any ties and is often frowned upon by many, it attracts membership of all types of people who wish to show that the current system is broken and in need of repair.
They hold alliance with life and fire clans, and good terms with nature. They have not affliated with water or wind, and show dislike for stone. They hold a strict policy of not recognizing shade as an actual clan, and have been known to remove members of their council from power if they reveal that this clan exists.
Morals
Dark clan formally support that people have the right to be judged by their peers and close friends, and that if actions are not harming anyone, then they should be allowed. They distrust the council and its bans on certain lost forms of magic and language, and its control of species and spells that mages are allowed to use. They believe that if the art of magic is limited to what is defined by those who do not practice or leave their quarters, then the realm would remain in an age of true ignorance while the dark forces surrounding it will get further and further advanced. Members may participate in their own market sales and study books that are banned by order of corruption, but the true number of participants is well hidden.
The motto of the clan is "Fe Tur Nurok"; or "Change is Key"; which signifies that change is the driving force behind victory.
Past Battles
No clan battles have been held, they are incredibly secretive. Aszerath fought against Felix Turom in the pre-world, though it is unknown how both managed to survive this incident.
Demi-Magics
Unknown, though it is said that Aszerath may be able to change into a wide array of forms after his revival; due to the magic gifted from Naruta.
Stance on the Edgelands
Although a defining problem, they believe that the true war will be in between our own forces if we do not change our governmental systems.
