General Information
A small tree, twisted up and ever so quaint. Adorable.
Though some mages speculate that balsa trees are the result of balsa drake or wyrm eggs that were too damaged to hatch normally, there is as yet no proof for this. Older mages will occasionally take advantage of this rumor to try to convince novices that balsa trees will grow into balsa drakes if planted and tended well. Very clever novices will get their revenge with a balsa drake marionette and a willing hiakiar or arcane dragon.

This little tree looks interesting. You think you could obtain it!
Balsa trees are essentially useless. They never grow an inch larger than the day they were found, no matter how much fertilizer one uses or how many leafsprites one persuades to help out, and can't even be used for battle. Some mages decorate theirs in the winter, but as the trees droop under the slightest weight, the result is at best endearingly pathetic.
