General Information
Melrunes Midge's are named after the mage who thought, and brought, these midges to life. Although work animals were not uncommon in his time, Melrune saw the need for not only an animal that could work simple tasks, but also was small and able to be a companion to both children and adults. After seeing the success of bringing inanimate objects to life as dragons to be sold to mages, he realized that two varieties of fruit, the sour peach and the lime, both had little appeal and could be bought for a few stones each. After researching various arcane tomes and consulting a few high mages, he was ready to pitch his idea to the council- who accepted his plan and referenced that they have heard of animals that served the same function these did in the old world. A successful idea, mages from various locations all now own these midges, and they are even now making their way into the general population.

Baby Information

This adorable hatchling is very playful, and loves to fetch objects that you lose or throw. It also loves to chew on objects and chase other hatchlings. It seems to not have many other thoughts than playing, sleeping, and eating, but its cuteness makes up for its relative uselessness.
Teen Information

This adorable hatchling is very playful, and loves to fetch objects that you lose or throw. It also loves to chew on objects and chase other hatchlings. It seems to not have many other thoughts than playing, sleeping, and eating, but its cuteness makes up for its relative uselessness. It's grown now and its wings have also grown in. They're too small for flight, but it does enjoy using them to exaggerate its emotions. It also still tries to fly, but the few inches off the ground it reaches are getting smaller the older it gets.
Adult Information

Your hatchling has grown now and although its a little more than chubby, it still is just as energetic as it was when it hatched. It is more than willing to fetch and retrieve objects, and now can learn a few simple commands, such as retrieving your mail every day, and is perfectly content with sleeping under your bed.
