The first mage to figure out the secret of the dratier wyrm (as the wrtawij pykt is properly known) was extremely fond of ciphers. Any mage seeking to learn more about these elusive creatures would be advised to learn more about ciphers, especially the work of Vigenere. There's some debate about the proper plural form of wrtawij pykt, but as there are only a handful in existence, the chance of having more than one in the same place at a time is remote (and undesirable).

The wrtawij pykt is one of the more unsettling creatures one might encounter. Those few mages who have attempted to tame one report regretting the experience. Luckily, with fewer than a dozen in existence, the wrtawij pykt is also one of the rarest creatures around. A wrtawij pykt poses no particular challenge in terms of diet (nonexistent) or temperament (incredibly dull), but even those who can cuddle a rot or face down an angry singularity without fear tend to find it uncanny. Often associated with the equally unsettling Tathoes of Gantuerh, the wrtawij pykt looks just as unnatural, with a tendency to fade and blur around the edges as though it isn't even properly part of the world. Arcane dragons in particular take a strong dislike to the wrtawij pykt, though even mages with the knack of talking to arcane dragons haven't been able to get a clear explanation.
