How do you make some of the creatures shiny?

You need a variate potion, which is a Level 10 alchemy recipe. (You may also have one in your inventory from when Ezriaphiel gave them out a few months ago.) Jeredu also got a couple of shiny creatures a few months back from breeding two normal creatures, but that's either a really rare outcome or not possible anymore. It's also possible (if really, really unlikely) to have an alchemy egg or achievement egg be shiny. I would think that it would be possible to pick up a Creche egg and have it be shiny, but if so, it's excruciatingly rare.

Breeding two shiny creatures will always produce shiny eggs. Breeding a shiny creature and a normal creature does not, apparently.
