First Steps
This section will go over what you should do when beginning to play.

Eggs
When you begin your account, you will want to collect some eggs from either the Creche, or your area based on your deity/clan.

Eggs can hatch various different creatures, depending on a few factors. A few to name are the current season (in game), the location, and if there are any events going on, such as a blizzard.

Eggs will gain 10 clicks per day, and most eggs will hatch at 70 clicks— seven days, if not using any items. Your egg will hatch into a baby, which will grow at 100 clicks into a teen. At 150 clicks, your teen will fully mature into its final stage.

Your creatures cannot and will not get sick, but will have a mood displayed in their stats. This mood cannot be changed or swayed; it is completely random. They do not affect anything other than scours.

Scours
Scours are adventures you can send your creatures on in chance of gaining rewards.

You can send one creature per scour and can have several going on at once. As stated on the page, your creature must be an adult and not currently going on an ongoing scour.

Scours can be from the chosen lengths:
1 hour
2 hours
4 hours
8 hours
12 hours
24 hours

However, your creature will not progress on its own; it will need your help on occasion.

When your creature gets stuck, you can tell it what to do. If it decides to listen to you depends on its mood.

Your creature can find the following items: blue stones, reactor stones, and boxes.

Currency
The current currencies of Mirrorwood are blue stones and reactor stones.

Blue stones are the implied main currency, shown by their relative ease to get.

You can recieve blue stones by:
Clicking creatures
Clicking companions
Scours
Opening boxes
Battling

Reactor stones, a more rare currency, can be obtained in almost the same ways as blue stones. However, these will always be in smaller quantities.

Items can be purchased with both currencies.

Lottery
On the subject of currencies, the lottery is paid access and can only be entered by buying tickets with blue stones or reactor stones.

The lottery is where extremely rare creatures are raffled off. Many of these creatures can only be obtained through here, or alchemy… and alchemy is quite tedious.

Once a creature is in a lottery’s rotation for that day, it takes about a week or so for it to come back.

Tickets can be purchased for 500 blue stones for 1 ticket, or 2 reactor stones for 1 ticket.

A few creatures that can be obtained from the lottery are:
Poisonous Mushroom Dragon ()
Derpy Enchanted Pumpkin ()
Shell Drake ()
Floofle (, comes in dark as well)
Windheight ()

All creatures won in the lottery will have a permanent mood of “Lucky,” meaning that they will have a higher chance of gaining rewards in a scour.

Battling
Any creature, so long as they are an adult, can battle. However, you can only have one at a time— referred to as your champion.

Your champion, which will be displayed under your username in the forums and next to your profile picture in the top right corner, will be available for you to use during battle.

By default, all creatures are given four attacks. These can be changed. (See: Items, Attack Changers)

To battle, click on either the Lost Fields, or your diety-exclusive area, and begin a battle.

To attack, all you need to do is click one of the four buttons.

Attacks that are in your creatures given affinity will be boosted. For example, an Aike Wev has the affinity of wind. If an Aike Wev uses a wind move (such as Skydive,) it will be boosted by doing more damage.

Battling in Mirrorwood is turn based; the higher speed stat goes first.

If your champion loses all of its health, you can either wait 4 hours to be back at max health, or pay to fully restore it. You can pay 50 blue stones for each point, or 1 reactor stone for each ten points.

Battle Stones will be addressed in “Items, Battle Stones.”

Going on…
Your Diety (yes, Diety)
Diety [sic]. I really don’t know why it’s spelt like this. I’ll be referring to them as the correct spelling, “deity.”

Your deity, also referred to as your clan or element, is a “faction” sort of thing. There are eight elements:

Life
Light
Dark
Stone
Leaf
Fire
Water
Wind

While your chosen deity does not have any major effects on your gameplay (most of the time), it does play a few parts.

Your deity’s clan will give you access to an exclusive area to collect eggs from. The leaf clan gives access to the Deep Forest, for example.

To unlock a different clan’s area, you need to do 5 Diety [sic] Tasks (DTs) given to you by one deity (5 tasks from the Wind deity to unlock that area.) DTs are randomly given to you and can range from clicking a certain amount of creatures, to doing alchemy*.

DTs are completely random. To public knowledge, there is no way to increase the chances of getting a DT.

^^^ (which, editor’s note, really sucks because some creatures are locked behind the area-exclusive wall. not a lot of area-exclusive creatures go up on the shop :/)

There is also a leaderboard for the clans. Doing certain tasks (clicking a creature, battling, alchemy, etc.) will gain you points for your clan. At the end of the week, the clan with the highest number of points will gain a boost of the following:

One extra scour slot
One extra egg slot
10% discount on NPC shops
Higher box drop rates from clicking
Bonus stones from clicking (creatures and companions)

If your clan is the current leader, your clan will be unable to be in the rankings for that week and points will not be counted. They will join the next ranking when the next leader is selected.

*I’m unsure of this. I’ve only ever gotten three tasks in the ~1 year I’ve been on the site, and all of them have been clicking tasks.

Selling and Trading
User shops are where creatures and items belonging to other players can be sold and traded.

This menu can be accessed through the “Stalls” tab.

I want to make one thing very clear: there is no “set” price for ANY creature or item. If you see something that looks way too expensive to be a fair price, it’s best to just attempt to get the item yourself.

Creatures and items put on the market will remain on sale until someone buys them, or the seller takes the listing down.

To create a sale, go to your hold.

If you are selling a creature, go to their profile and click “List.” Type in how many blue stones and/or reactor stones you want for it, and press “Sell Creature” to put it up for sale.

If you are selling an item, go to your inventory. Select an item/the items, type in how many blue stones and/or reactor stones you want for it, and press “Confirm Sales” to put it up for sale.

To make a trade, make sure to put whoever you are trading with username in the “Reserved” box.

Pet Specifics
This section will go over anything related to pets and creatures in specific.

Renaming
Renaming your pet has no effect on them. It is just a cosmetic change.

When you rename a pet, this does not change their ID (the string of letters and/or numbers attached to them.)

To rename a pet, click the pencil that is at the most right of their name. The die that is next to the prompt will generate a random name.

Companions
Companions are a good, but lengthy way to earn currency.

To attach a companion to a creature, click on their profile. To the right, click the blue button on the box with “No companion attached” in it.

Select what companion you would like to attach, then click “Update companion.”

Once you have attached a companion, you can click the teddy bear icon to play with it every hour and earn blue stones. This one-hour cooldown applies to every player.

An example of the above: one player plays with ’s companion at 2:00 PM, earning 65 blue stones. This companion will not be able to be interacted with by anyone for the next hour. They will be able to play at 3:00 PM.

The more you play, the more the reward will increase. It is a very time consuming process, but can be a great way to grind out currency.

Growth
As stated in “First Steps, Eggs,” while growing, pets will gain 10 clicks per day. However, this can be sped up.

You can use growth potions to speed up this process. The most common version is a regular growth potion, giving 20 clicks per potion.

To grow a pet, go to their profile and click “Grow.” Click on what potion you would like to use, the amount of it, and click “Grow Creature” to use them.

Keepsakes
Keepsakes are slots on your creature’s profile. Items can be put into them, but certain ones cannot.

If your pet has no battle stones equipped, there will be nothing there.

To purchase (yes, purchase) a keepsake slot, press the small green “+” that is on the most left. Each slot is 5000 blue stones, or 25 reactor stones.

To put an item into a slot, press the blue button in the top right corner. Click on whatever item you want and press “Give Keepsake” to lock it in.

To swap it out or remove it, do the same steps above with the different item or “No Item.” When doing either, the previous item will not be deleted, instead being returned back to your inventory.

To keep it even, I recommend purchasing multiples of 8 (8, 16, 24, etc.) However, your first row will have your first four battle stones if you choose to equip them. If you do equip them, purchase 4 slots to make it even.

The price of these does add up if you purchase a large amount. For example, my pet iggy azalea has 140 keepsake slots (at the time of writing this). This adds up to 700,000 blue stones.

So, unless you want to do something cool, have a dedicated pet/champion, or have a pet to dump your unwanted items, I would not recommend buying a ton of slots outside of the reasons above, as they are just for cosmetic purposes.

Releasing creatures
Quite simple.

Once a full hour has passed since you collected a creature or egg, a red trash can icon will appear.

Releasing an egg will drop it into the Lost Fields, where other players can collect it. If you release an adult creature, they will be gone forever and will not be released into the LF.

There is a chance, when you release an adult, the filler text “Something evil has transpired here today.” will appear. The creature will turn into a “The Possession.” This creature will not be in your hold.

This creature’s page can be found here: https://mirrorwood.com/encyclopedia/specie/235 . For some reason, it is glitched on any of their pages and does not show up.

Releasing an egg can result in three possibilities: a Drac, a Possession, or a Rot. These will be changed from whatever creature they originally were into one of the three.

You can recapture these creatures in the Lost Fields, given that there is room for them to appear.

editors note but ill try and get a better sample size :/

total released: 14

0 poss.
1 drac egg
1 The Rot

Contests
Contests are events you can enter your pet into based on their stats. These are very stat dependent.

Contests are split into

To enter a contest, click on the ribbon icon that is next to the treasure box.

Look to see what contest you would like to enter, click “Enter Creatures,” and select what creature you would like to enter. To lock it in, click on “Enter Creature.”

To remove a creature from a contest, go to their profile and click on what contest they are entered in. Simply press “Remove Creature” to pull them out.

Contests need at least 4 creatures to end and give out rewards.

Despite the button saying “Creatures,” plural, you can only enter one creature per contest.

Items
This section will go over the many items in Mirrorwood.

Inventory
Your inventory is where all of your items are stored.

To access this page, click on the treasure box next to the award icon.

The “Materials” page will show you all of your materials, which can be used in alchemy or put on your pet’s page as keepsake items

”Potions” shows you all your potions. Growth items, appearance changers, and gender potions are a few items that will be shown.

”Battle” shows you your battle stones and attack changers. To keep this page tidy and organized, I recommend sorting by type.

”Special” shows you your miscellaneous items. Items such as the Magic Paintbrush and Galactic Sowing[sic] Kit are shown here.

”Backgrounds” is where any pet backgrounds will be. To find your own background/vista, refer to “Your Profile, Vistas.”

”Boxes” will allow you to access all of your boxes to open them.

“Companions” is where all your companions will be. To equip a companion to a pet, refer to “Pet Specifics, Companions.”

Attack changers
Attack changers (im not sure if there’s an official name for these,,) as the name implies; they change the attack of one chosen creature.

To change an attack, go to a creature’s page and click on “Attacks.” Click what attack you want to replace, select what you would like to replace it with, and press “Change Attacks” once you are sure.

When you change an attack, that attack will be permanently gone. Be careful not to select the wrong attack to either replace or be replaced.

Battle Stones
Battle Stones are items that can be equipped to a given pet to boost their stats.

You can equip battle stones to any creature, as long as they are an adult.

To equip a battle stone to your currently equipped champion, go to the battling page and click “Manage Battle Stones.” Click on any item and press “give totem.”

To equip a battle stone to a creature not equipped as your champion, you need to set them as your champion to do so.

You can have four items on at once.

The Shops (simplified)
This section will briefly go over the shops that are offered. Not much to note about them.

Morado’s
Potions. You can buy Grow Potions and Energy Tickets here.

Onroz’s
Companions. Stock rotates every month. Usually good for buying bulk of alchemy fodder.

Eggx
Exclusive creatures. If you don’t want to gamble at the lottery, you can buy quasar eggs here.

Slayless
Attack changers. Rotates every day.

Rhubarb’s
Egg slots.

Misc.
Backgrounds for your pets can be bought at Surround Ground. Vistas can be bought at Canvas Coverings (see “Your Profile, Vistas.”) User Shops are items/creatures sold by other players. (See “Going on…, Selling and Trading)

Your Profile
This section will go over your profile and how to manage it.

To access managing your profile, click on your profile picture.

To manage your entire account, click on your profile picture and click “My Account.”

Vistas
Vistas can be purchased at Canvas Coverings.

To change this, enter the managing menu. Scroll down to the drop down “Forum / Profile CSS.” Select the name of your desired Vista, and press “Save Changes” to confirm it.

Tab Loading
If the website is acting slow when you click on your, or other player’s, hold, it may be because of how many creatures are loading in; there’s too many.

To change the amount of creatures that load in, go to your “Managing Account” menu. Click on “Tab Loading,” type in how many creatures you’d like to load in, and press “Edit” to lock it in.

Other Users
yeah i honestly dont really know how to start this topic off. i was gonna say “theres never more than five people on this site at once” but you never know :P

btw im using the user Seejay as an example in most of these. dont worry ur not blocked or anything xd

To request a friendship with a player, go to their profile and click on the icon that is between the mouse button and gift/present.

This will immediately send a friend request to them, so be careful not to click it if you don’t mean to; you cannot cancel it once sent.

If your request is accepted, you will see a small pop up on the top of your screen saying so.

To see your pending friend requests from other players, go to your “Managing Account” menu. Go to “My Friendslist,” click on “Friend Requests,” and check out who wants to be friends.

I’m quite popular, I know.

To block a user, go to the user’s profile and click the trash can icon in the line of icons.

This will immediately block the user.

To unblock a user (without using the link given when you block someone), go to your “Managing Account” menu. Go to the bottom where “My Blocklist” is, and click on the red trash can that is next to their username.

Hold Tabs
I’m telling you. These will be your best friends.

Hold Tabs, or just tabs, are different folders for your creatures. These make sorting your creatures very easy, especially if you’re doing a breeding project.

To create a new tab, click on “Manage Tabs” from your hold. Put in what you want to name your tab, you can change it later if you want, and press “Add Tab.” This will cost blue stones, and will increase the more tabs you have.

I recommend having a tab for all your adults that are not special in any way. That way, when you get new eggs, your Main Stable isn’t cluttered with grown adult creatures and loads quicker.

You can use tabs to manage your hoards, if you have any. They’re great for keeping track of any dragons you need to keep an eye on— like shinies.
